Do you have a favorite hunting location, and if so, what makes it special to you?
"My absolute favorite place to hunt is my family farm. I grew up on that 147-acre property, and we relied on deer hunting as a means of survival at times. There's something incredibly special about returning to the same stands I've hunted from since I was a kid. It's a bit sentimental, you know, and it reminds me of the traditions and values that have been passed down through generations."
What advice would you offer to beginners who are interested in hunting deer?
"Well, my advice to beginners is to be patient. Deer hunting isn't something where you can expect instant success. It takes time and effort. So, my suggestion is to spend as much time as you can out there and truly enjoy the experience. For me, deer hunting is a way to escape from the stresses of work, home, and everyday life. I enjoy just sitting in the woods, observing nature, even more than I enjoy harvesting deer. When you're out in the woods, it's a unique opportunity to escape from the usual stresses and just immerse yourself in nature. It's a form of relaxation for me, and it provides a deeper connection to the environment."
What essential equipment would you recommend for someone who is just starting out as a deer hunter?
"The equipment you need can depend on whether you're planning to hunt with a firearm or a bow. For archery, I'd recommend lightweight clothing to stay comfortable and scent killer to help you get closer to deer without being detected. On the other hand, if you're using a firearm, heavier clothing and an orange vest for safety are essential. And don't forget snacks; they're always important on a hunting trip!
For true beginners, I would recommend using a firearm. There is a lot of frustration that comes with bow hunting. While using a firearm can also be frustrating, it is less complicated to use as you can control the gun better.
My personal favorite is hunting deer with a bow since there is an added challenge with it."
Finally, can you share what you love about being part of Molly's Family?
"David Worth: Absolutely. What I love most about being a part of Molly's Family is the sense of, well, family. It's not just a workplace where you come in, do your job, and go home. Here, we genuinely care about each other's well-being, and we invest in each other's personal lives. It's a place where we help one another when needed, build relationships beyond just being coworkers, and foster a strong sense of community. That kind of environment makes work enjoyable and fulfilling."
